Course Description

CPCS Traffic Marshal Courses are designed for novice and experienced delegates wanting to manage plant and vehicle movement on construction sites. Pass theory and practical testing to earn a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

Learning Objectives

Understand the roles and responsibilities of the plant and vehicle marshaller
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for plant and vehicle masrshaller use
Interpret given information when controlling plant and vehicular movement on construction sites
Conduct all neccessary safety checks at the work area including stop blocks and tipping areas
Set up a restricted zone for loading and unloading
Identify requirements for the type of vehicle or plant to be guided
Use signs and signals, approved hand signals, and different forms of communication
Safely guide plant and vehicles in a forward and reverse direction through restricted spaces and blind areas
Direct and guide the movement of plant and vehicles using different methods of communication

Entry Requirements

You must have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years.

Certification

Upon successful completion, you will receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

What PPE do I need?

This course requires the following personal protective equipment:

High visibility jacket
Safety boots
Hard hat
Work gloves

What happens if I fail?

If you do not achieve the theory or practical test, we will do our best to re-book at a reduced rate.

How long does the course take?

Novice traffic marshal courses take 3 days. This includes theory and practical training and testing.

How long is the CPCS card valid?

The CPCS Red Card is valid for 2 years. Once this expires, you can choose to upgrade to a CPCS Blue Card, valid 5 years.

How to get a CPCS traffic marshal card

To get your CPCS Red Card for traffic marshall, you will need to pass theory and practical testing.
