CPCS Crane Supervisor Courses are designed for novice and experienced delegates wanting to operate supervise lifting operations construction sites. Pass theory and practical testing to earn a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

Learning Outcomes

Understand the role and responsibilities of a crane supervisor and comply with relevant legislation
Understand the duties of everyone involved in lifting operations, including the crane operator and slinger/signaller
Interpret and apply lift plans, method statements, and risk assessments when supervising lifting operations
Identify different types of cranes, lifting equipment, and accessories, including their capabilities and limitations
Select and verify appropriate lifting accessories, sling sizes, angles, load weights, and centres of gravity
Identify hazards and assess the impact of ground conditions, underground services, and surrounding site activities
Establish safe lifting areas, including exclusion zones, access and egress routes, crane positions
Communicate lift plans and instructions to everyone involved and use signalling and communication methods
Supervise and control lifting operations in accordance with the lift plan, ensuring safe working practices are followed
Review completed lifting operations, identify positive and negative aspects, and report findings

High visibility jacket
Safety boots
Hard hat
Work gloves

What happens if I fail?

If you do not achieve the theory or practical test, we will do our best to re-book at a reduced rate.

How long does the course take?

This novice crane supervisor course takes 3 days. This includes theory and practical training and testing.

How long is the CPCS card valid?

The CPCS Red Card is valid for 2 years. Once this expires, you can choose to upgrade to a CPCS Blue Card, valid 5 years.

How much do crane supervisors earn?

Newly trained crane supervisors can expect to earn up to £40,000 per year, according to Go Construct.
