You must have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years.

Certification

Novice slinger signaller courses are ideal for beginners. The course covers all the basics in theory and practical training.

This course requires the following personal protective equipment:

  • High visibility jacket
  • Safety boots
  • Hard hat
  • Work gloves

If you do not achieve the theory or practical test, we will do our best to re-book at a reduced rate.

The novice slinger signaller course takes 4 days. This includes theory and practical training and testing.

The CPCS Red Card is valid for 2 years. Once this expires, you can choose to upgrade to a CPCS Blue Card, valid 5 years.

Slinger Signallers earn an average of £34K per year, according to Glassdoor.

Ideally, slinger signallers need to hold a CPCS Red Card. This can be achieved by completing theory and practical testing, included in our CPCS slinger signaller course.

The CPCS Slinger Signaller course has a verbal test with 40 questions. Prepare for the test with our Online Theory Preparation.

Although there is cross-over between these roles, a slinger signaller is not automatically qualified to be a banksman. To become a qualified banksman you need to complete an accredited traffic marshal course.

Being a slinger signaller can be challenging as it requires focus and coordination. This includes communication with crane operators, where they must help to guide vehicle movement where visibility is limited.
