What is Gement Connect?
Gement Connect is an employment programme which aims to support and upskill construction workers across the UK. The programme is fully funded by CITB, which means it’s completely free to join!
Once you signed up, you’ll have 12 months to take advantage of as many services as you need.
Why Was the Programme Created?
Studies by CITB reveal that 71% of new people leave construction after just 3 months:
- 50% are dismissed due to timekeeping, attendance, attitude, and lack of performance.
- 21% resign due to lack of support from their employer and lack of feeling valued.
The construction industry is facing huge skills shortages, with Construction Skills Network estimating that at least 250,000 additional construction workers will be needed by 2026. Gement Connect aims to reduce these shortages, supporting individuals in construction related careers.
Programme Eligibility
To be eligible for the Gement Connect, you must:
- Work in a construction-related occupation
- Have been in your current job role for six months or less
- Spend some of your working time on-site
