NPORS Road Roller courses equip you with the skills and knowledge to operate road rollers.

Courses are flexible, with the ability to be completed either at our training centres or on your worksite.

Choose from novice, refresher or experienced worker tests. Pass the theory and practical tests to achieve an NPORS Card.

Learning Outcomes

Operate a road roller safely and efficiently in line with industry best practice
Understand operator responsibilities, site safety requirements, and relevant legislation
Identify the main components, controls, and safety features of a road roller
Carry out pre-use inspections and operational checks in accordance with manufacturer requirements
Select and use appropriate PPE for road roller operations
Prepare the machine for work, including safe start-up, travel, and shutdown procedures
Perform compaction tasks safely and effectively on a variety of surfaces and site conditions
Work safely around site hazards, personnel, vehicles, and other plant equipment
Understand the principles of compaction and how correct rolling techniques contribute to quality outcomes
Carry out end-of-shift maintenance checks, defect reporting, and machine security procedures

Certification

Traditional Card

NPORS Traditional Cards are for industry sectors other than construction. These are valid for 3 or 5 years, based on your requirements.

Trained Operator Card

NPORS Trained Operator Cards are designed for the construction sector. These display the CSCS logo and are valid for 2 years. To get this card, you must have passed the CITB Health and Safety Test within the last 2 years.
