What is a Blue CSCS Card?
The Blue CSCS Card is for those working in a skilled occupation. This includes roles like bricklayers, carpenters, groundworkers, and more.
However, please note that roles related to plant operation require a CPCS Blue Card.
How Long Does the Card Last?
The Blue CSCS Card is valid for five years.
How to Get a Blue CSCS Card
Step 1: Complete the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions about health, safety and environmental awareness. The test takes up to 45 minutes and requires a pass mark of 90%.
Ready to take the test? Book the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test online.
Step 2: Complete the relevant Level 2 NVQ
This is an evidence-based portfolio. This may include witness testimonies, written questions, images and personal discussions. This takes place at your worksite, with an assessor visiting to construct your portfolio.
Step 3: Apply for your CSCS Labourer Card Online
We always suggest applying for your card via the official CSCS website. Cards cost £36 and are issued within 48 hours. Be wary of other websites claiming to apply for the card; they will charge an additional fee, and there is no guarantee you will get your card.
You will then have a physical copy and a digital copy on the My CSCS App, available on Google Play or the App Store.
Why Do You Need a Blue CSCS Card?
This is neccessary to get on site for skilled work. This is not possible using a CSCS Labourer Card.
How to Renew a Blue CSCS Card
To renew your Blue CSCS Card, you will only need to re-complete the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test. Once this is complete, you can apply for a card renewal.
