Learning Outcomes

Know and understand the considerations for ensuring safe travel within different working environments, to include but not be limited to, the preparation for safe travel on the highway.
Know and understand the impact of different working environments and ground conditions on the machine.
Be able to configure the machine for travel.
Be able to start and stop the machine safely and correctly.

Be able to manoeuvre it safely across varying terrain in open and confined spaces suitable to the machine and its operational duties.
Be able to safely and effectively operate the machine near hazards, undulating rough terrain, gradients and confined spaces both laden and un-laden.
Know and understand the equipment load capacity and the considerations required when receiving different types of materials.
Know and understand the importance of ensuring load integrity and security.

Know and understand the importance and reasons for maintaining a safe and tidy work area.
Know and understand how to travel safely over varying terrain.
Be able to manoeuvre the machine to work area and correctly configure in readiness to carryout equipment specific tasks.
Be able to correctly and safely position the vehicle to receive a load.

Be able to transfer loads from one location to another, traveling safely over varying terrain.
Be able to deposit a load on a stock pile.
Be able to deposit a load into a trench and over edges.
Know and understand the different types and capacities of the forward tipping dumper showing awareness of the different types of tipping skip.
