Lorry Loader Training - CPCS A36

Course Description

CPCS Lorry Loader training is designed to help you become a qualified lorry loader operator.

Choose between our novice and experienced training courses, based on your current operating experience.

Those who pass the CPCS theory and practical tests will achieve a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card, valid for two years.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, you must have passed the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives within the past 2 years. This can be completed at our Wokingham centre for £60+VAT.

Learning Outcomes

Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
Conform with manufacturer requirements and relevant regulations/legislation. Undertake all pre-use checks.
Configure the vehicle & loader crane ready for travel. Manoeuvre in confined spaces.
Configure the vehicle & loader crane for lifting duties. Deploy stabilisers to specification. Explain hazards.

Setup rated capacity indicators or load moment indicators for lifting duties. Identify centres of gravity.
Lift various loads using the full radius & slewing capabilities of the loader crane. Place loads accurately.
Explain the types & fitting of boom extensions. Minimise swinging of loads. Secure loads on the vehicle.
Maintain safe working situations. Carry out shut down and securing procedures.

Activity Instructions

Complete all manufacturer’ pre-start and running checks and prepare the excavator for travel

Travel to and within the work area (loaded & unloaded).

Reverse into a confined space (no wider than the width of the vehicle plus 900mm).

Position the vehicle, prepare and set the crane and load for each lift.

Lift 3 loads and place onto the vehicle bed (100mm of given position).

Secure all loads in preparation for travel. Remove & place 3 loads to different location.

Stow all equipment and return the vehicle to the park position.

Park the vehicle and carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
