About the CPCS Blue Card
The CPCS Blue Card proves that you are a trained and competent plant operator. The card lasts 5 years and is often the next step for those who hold the CPCS Red Card.

The CPCS Blue Card Renewal Process
Once your CPCS Blue Card has expired, you have up to 5 years to renew it.
Step 1: Pass the CITB Health and Safety Test
First, you will need to re-complete the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test.
The test lasts 45 minutes and requires a score of at least 45 out of 50 to pass.

Step 2: Complete the CPCS Renewal CPD
Next, you will need to complete the CPCS Renewal CPD. These are e-learning courses relevant to the categories you hold:
• Earth Moving and Compaction
• Lifting and Lifting Equipment
• Piling and Pumping of Materials
• Lifting Supervision and Management
• Demolition

Step 3: Demonstrate Ongoing Experience
Finally, you will need to prove you have ongoing operating experience. This can be done by completing either of the below:
- Digital Logbook via the NOCN Hub
- CPCS On-Site Assessment
Apply for the CPCS Blue Card Renewal
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll just need to complete the renewal application.

Please note that, as of December 2024, CPCS has phased out any cards gained through Industry Accreditation.
