Slinger Signaller Training - CPCS A40

Course Description

CPCS Slinger Signaller training is designed to help you become a qualified slinger signaller on-site.

Choose between our novice and experienced training courses, based on your current operating experience.

Those who pass the CPCS theory and practical tests will achieve a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card, valid for two years.

Eligibility Criteria

Before attending this course, you must have passed the CITB Health and Safety Test for Operatives within the past 2 years. This can be completed at our Wokingham centre for £60+VAT.

Learning Outcomes

Describe the responsibilities of slinger signallers.
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for duties.
Identify and explain the basic functions of different types of lifting equipment & lifting accessories.
Undertake pre-use checks on lifting accessories.
Identify non-serviceable items and explain the procedure for placing them out-of-service.
Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads.

Set up exclusion zones, explain actions required for emergency actions and identify overhead hazards.
Secure loads to a hook using appropriate lifting accessories. Ensure balance, security and integrity.
Direct and guide the movement of loads using different methods of communication.
Carry out all out-of-service and securing procedures.

Activity Instructions

Check lifting equipment, taking unserviceable items out-of-service.

Establish the weight and features of loads. Select the relevant lifting accessory for the load.

Establish communication methods with the machine operator.

Attach the selected lifting accessory and prepare each load for lifting.

Lift loads from ground level, guide to maximum radius, slew for at least 180 degrees and land at a designated place.

Lift loads from ground level, guide to minimum radius, slew for at least 360 degrees and land at a designated place.

Lift loads from ground level and land in a designated place out of sight of the machine operator.

Attach loads from the out of sight area and return the load to the original start point. Land at a designated place.
