Crane Supervisor Course

Course Description

CPCS Crane Supervisor Training equips you with the skills and knowledge to supervise lifting operations.

Courses are spread across 3 days and include a combination of classroom and hands-on training. Pass your theory and practical tests to achieve a CPCS Red Card.

You must have passed the CITB Health and Safety Test for Supervisors within the last 2 years.

Activity Instructions

Receive and study the lift plan.

Ensure all personnel involved are suitably qualified and attired.

Inform personnel of their duties. Prepare the area of operation.

Guide the crane from the site entry point to the required location.

Ensure the crane is fit for purpose and suitably certified.

Identify the weight of the load and its characteristic.

Check landing area and mark exact position for landing.

Indicate the position of lifting accessories to the slinger.

Ensure that accessories are attached as per the lift plan.

Check load integrity. Ensure load is moved as per lift plan.

Demonstrate the action of an emergency stop.

Ensure load is safe and accessories are returned to storage.

Debrief all personnel and verbally report to the Appointed Person.

Guide the crane back to the site access point.

All hand signals must conform to BS 7121 Part 1.
