Course Description

CPCS Compact Crane Training gives you the skills and knowledge to safely operate compact cranes, also known as spider cranes.

Choose between our Novice and Experienced courses, based on your current ability.

Pass the theory and practical tests to achieve a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

You must have passed the CITB Health and Safety Test within the last 2 years.

Activity Instructions

Complete pre-start and running checks. Prepare the crane for travel.

Travel or manoeuvre to the work area.

Travel up and down the incline.

Manoeuvre forwards and backwards through a chicane.

Execute right and left turns.

Position, prepare and set the crane for each lift.

Lift and rotate loads. Land loads at a designated place.

Travel forwards and backwards with the load suspended.

Lift and move a load. Land the load out-of-sight.

Configure the crane for travel.

Park the crane. Carry out shut-down and securing procedures.
